When you’re hosting a dance party for the school holidays, it’s important to choose activities that include as many kids as possible.
It’s also important to choose games that are safe, especially with large groups.
Of course, you can let everyone dance around and make their own games, but here are some ideas that suit vacation cares.
This game is tried and true for a reason! Get everyone grooving, then pause the music. The last person still moving must sit down. They can still listen to music on their headphones, of course.
This game encourages observation and healthy competition.
It’s so popular, even Bluey plays it in the opening of her show.
Get out a long stick and challenge everyone to go underneath it.
After everyone has gone beneath the limbo stick, lower it a little. If they can’t get under the stick without touching it or causing the stick to fall down, they’re out! Keep going lower until there is one kid left in the limbo line.
This is a challenge of balance and movement.
Teams create a fun dance together. First up, form a few lines. Those are the dance teams.
The person at the front of each line has 10 seconds to show off their dance moves. Then freeze! As they organiser, pause the music.
Now the person at the front goes to the back of the line. That means someone new is now at the front.
Click play on the music. The new kid at the front has to repeat the first dance move, then add their own dance. After twenty seconds, click pause again.
Repeat until everyone has added their moves. Then, as a group, they dance together, performing each move in order.
This is a challenge of memory and teamwork!
There you have it!
These three games are sure to be a hit at your Silent Disco incursion.
