Last year, a new animated movie took the world by storm.
The studio producing it didn’t believe it would do well. The writers thought it might be a niche hit and, if they were lucky, a cult classic.
Instead. It went HUGE.
K-Pop Demon Hunters touched the hearts of kids all over the world. For the last decades or so, K-Pop as a music genre has gained worldwide recognition. Songs made by Korean artists have been played on the radio everywhere.
But no one anticipated just how much a movie about K-Pop singers (who are also Demon Hunters) would resonate with people.
Like those K-Pop hits from years prior, K-Pop Demon Hunters was an instant sensation.
Kids are clamouring for anything “K-Pop Demon Hunters” but, as fun as the movie is, it still exists on the screen. The challenge of every educator these days is to provide kids more “green time”.
But that doesn’t mean ignoring their interests!
Embrace K-Pop Demon Hunters with these fabulous activities that don’t have kids sitting in front of a screen for hours.
Every show needs a headliner!
Silent Disco is your “frontman” for the day.
To save you time, we have curated a playlist themed around K-Pop Demon Hunters + other K-Pop hits! Simply press play and let the tunes rolls.
We have several fun games you can play!
Lights! Dance! Action!
Light up the dance floor with these discs. Switch them on and set them down.
These can be combined with the Silent Disco activity or played with separately.
Whenever a kid steps on a disc, it changes colour. The Dance Discs have a variety of colours they can be. This glow-y vibe is perfect for a “K-Pop Demon Hunters” activity.
For a friendly competition, you can split the kids up into two or three teams and assign them a colour. Set a timer for 5 minutes. At the end of the 5 minutes, whichever team has the most discs glowing their colour wins.
For added theming, they have created the “Honmoon”!
While creating a light stick with LEDs is a bit tricky, neon paint does a great job.
You can get some silver cardboard from your local craft supply store + washable neon paints by Crayola.
It’s also a good idea to get some basic foam.
First, make the handle. Curl a square piece of cardboard into a cylinder. Then tape it in place.
After that, have the kids cut out the flower shape at the top in cardboard twice.
Next, cut out the same shape in the foam, but this time leave a section at the bottom shaped like the handle. Stick the extra section inside the cardboard handle.
You may want to add pipe-cleaners for extra stability! Then glue both cardboard flower pieces to either side. Now you have the basic shape of a HUNTR/X Light Stick! Woo!
At this point, it’s time to get painting. Let the kids make their own designs or give them a reference image to replicate the original HUNTR/X light stick from the movie.
Now they’re ready to be the ultimate HUNTR/X fans!
In the movie, HUNTR/X is not the only band to fend off demons!
Have the kids invent their own band of Demon Hunters. They can brainstorm the names of their new band.
As an activity, they can make a collage for their band’s album covers! (One album each)
This can be done with stickers, glitter, old magazines, and markers.
For this activity you hire a set of 12 laser taggers + 6 extra targets.
In preparation for this activity, you can have the kids play as their new band (see activity above).
Unlike in traditional laser tag, the players aren’t trying to tag each other. Instead, they are trying to tag the glowing targets.
In the “Flash” game, for example, the targets will light up briefly. They can light up Red, Blue, or Purple. When it lights up Red, a player on the Red team can tag it and get a point! Players on the Blue team need to take the targets when they light up Blue.
You can pitch this as them “facing down” Demons emerging from the Demon Realm! As Demon Hunters, their job is to dispel as many Demons as possible.
Once they have scored a point on a target, a player cannot score another point on that target immediately. Instead, they have to go to a different target and score a point there.
This encourages the kids to move around!
It’s a great activity game to play!
